Admiral Alain Coldefy (Rtd.) is a former Admiral of the French Navy.
He served as Senior Naval Advisor to the Minister of Defense Staff (1994-1996), Chief of the Internationals Relations (1996-1998), and Deputy Commander of Naval Action Force (1998-1999). He was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral in 2000 and selected to serve as Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Logistics and Naval Aviation at the Navy Headquarters. He later served as Deputy, Chief of Joint Staff, Director for International Affairs (2000-2002) and was appointed as “Major Général des Armées” (Vice Chief of Defense – Admiral) in 2002. His distinguished military career ended in 2006, as General Inspector for the French Armed Forces.
He then served as Vice President – Political Affairs France, EADS Company from 2006 to 2012. He has been Treasurer of the French Naval Industry Association & Euronaval Exhibition since 2006, and Chairman of the Revue Défense Nationale since 2012. He was Vice-Chairman of the Fondation pour la Recherche Stratégique from 2007 to 2013, and Research Director at the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs. He has been President of the Marine Academy since 2016. In 2018, he was elected President of the Society of Members of the Legion d’Honneur.
