Ana Alecsandru

Doctoral student at the University of Birmingham

Ana Alecsandru is a doctoral student at the University of Birmingham, working closely with the Institute for Conflict, Cooperation and Security. Her doctoral research is funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and examines the role of trusting relationships in multilateral agreements within a longitudinal study of the cooperation between the nuclear weapon states. Ana is also currently an intern with the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs in the Strategic Planning Unit.

Prior to this, Ana has worked as a Research Assistant on the ‘Challenges to Trust-Building in Nuclear Worlds’ project led by Prof. Nicholas Wheeler. Ana has completed internships at NATO HQ (Brussels) in the WMD Non-Proliferation Centre and at the British Embassy in Bucharest in the Political Section. She has also worked for one year on a project for the European Commission in Brussels.
