Rt Hon. Bob Ainsworth is a former British Labour Party politician who was the Member of Parliament for Coventry North East from 1992 until 2015. In June 2007, Mr Ainsworth moved to the Ministry of Defence becoming the Minister of State for the Armed Forces. In June 2009, he was appointed to the Cabinet replacing John Hutton as the Secretary of State for Defence. From May 2010 to September 2010, Mr Ainsworth held the position of Shadow Defence Secretary.
He is currently a member of the Top Level Group of UK Parliamentarians for Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation.
