Former Minister of the German Federal Government

Egon Bahr is a German former politician for the Social Democratic Party and served as a minister for federal Government between 1972 to 1976.  He served as Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office from 1969 to 1972, under the leadership of German Chancellor Willy Brandt. In 1980, Bahr became a member of the Independent Commission for Disarmament and Security under the chairmanship of Swedish politician Olof Palme. The Commission published its findings in a 1982 report titled “Common Security”. Among the report’s recommendations was the concept of a nuclear-free corridor in Central Europe.
