ELN Director chairs the session on military intervention at the Chatham House Security and Defence Conference

On March 7 2017, ELN Director Sir Adam Thomson chaired the session on “The Future of Military Intervention” at the Chatham House Security and Defence Conference.

The session started with a ministerial address by HE Nizar Al Khairallah, Deputy Foreign Minister, Republic of Iraq.

Speakers included:

  • Hugo Slim, Head of Policy, International Committee of the Red Cross
  • Paul Schulte, Honorary Professor, Institute for Conflict, Cooperation, and Security, University of Birmingham​
  • Constanze Stelzenmuller, Robert Bosch Senior Fellow, Brookings Institution
  • Kurt Volker, US Permanent Representative to NATO (2008-09)

The session explored recent experiences in international military intervention and lessons for future cooperative efforts internationally.
