The Rt Hon. the Lord Wallace of Saltaire is a Liberal Democrat member of the House of Lords.
He previsouly held the position of Lords Spokesperson (Cabinet Office) from 2011 to 2015. He was appointed a government whip in the Lords in the coalition government which was formed after the 2010 election, with departmental responsibilities covering the FCO, the Ministry of Defence, and the Department for Education. He was Lord in Waiting (HM Household, Whip) from 2010 to 2015 in government.
Lord Wallace of Saltaire was made a Privy Counsellor in 2012, and was Liberal Democrat Lords Spokesperson (Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) from 2015 to 2016 in opposition.
Lord Wallace also served as Director of Studies of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (1978-1990).
