Elected in 1992 to represent the people of North Devon, Sir Nick Harvey has had a long parliamentary career. A member of the Liberal Democrats, he was a leading spokesperson in the House of Commons on transport, trade and health before becoming the Lib Dem’s Shadow Defence Secretary in 2006.
After the Liberal Democrats entered into coalition government in 2010, Sir Nick became the first ever Lib Dem defence minister, serving as Minister for the Armed Forces until 2012.
