Dr Tarja Cronberg was a Member of the European Parliament where she chaired the European Parliament's delegation for relations with Iran. Previously, she was a member of Parliament in Finland and served as the Minister of Labour. She has also held the post of the Chair of the Green League Party, and currently works as Distinguished Associate Fellow with the European Security Programme at SIPRI.
Throughout her career, Dr Cronberg specialized in defence and security issues, working as a Special Advisor on nuclear disarmament for the Finnish Institute for International Affairs and was the former Director of Copenhagen Peace Research Institute. After the end of the Cold War, she led a research programme on conversion of military industries to civilian production (Russia and the US).
