Dr Alyson Bailes is a Visiting Professor at the University of Iceland. She previously served in the British Diplomatic Service, and was Political Director of the Western European Union from 1997 to 2000, UK Ambassador to Finland from 2000 to 2002, and Director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute from 2002 to 2007. Her research interests include European defence, arms control, and Arctic security.
