Alexander Kmentt on the first meeting of states parties to the TPNW

In June, the ELN held a private all-Network briefing with Senior Network Member and President-Designate of the First Meeting of States Parties (1MSP) of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) Alexander Kmentt on preparations and expectations of the historic first meeting of states parties. Here, Ambassador Kmentt speaks to ELN Impact Director Jane Kinninmont on the security arguments made in favour of the TPNW and, given such clear divides in opinion on the Treaty, what we should expect from the conference.

The opinions articulated above represent the views of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the position of the European Leadership Network or any of its members. The ELN’s aim is to encourage debates that will help develop Europe’s capacity to address the pressing foreign, defence, and security policy challenges of our time.
