Building bridges between different nuclear worlds

ELN Policy Fellow Dr Katarzyna Kubiak participated in the 2019 Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI) International Exchange from 23 to 27 September 2019 in the United States. The study trip was an annual week-long project organised by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in coordination with the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI).

British and American participants representing the industrial nuclear weapons complex, the nuclear energy sector, academia and think tanks visited the FE Warren Air Force Base, the Whiteman Air Force Base and the Kansas City National Security Campus. In a series of PONI presentations, Katarzyna gave input on the implications of the end of the INF Treaty to NATO security.

The program served a unique opportunity to broaden and validate subject-matter knowledge; building a bridge between the policy, industry and military communities from both sides of the Atlantic.

Katarzyna wrote a blog post on the study trip for WIIS that you can read here.
