The Future of Trident and the UK’s Role in the World

On Tuesday 19 April 2016, European Leadership Network’s Deputy Director, Shatabhisha Shetty spoke at an event co-hosted by the Young Professionals in Foreign Policy and the British American Security Information Council (BASIC). The event focused on the future of Trident and what it could mean for the UK’s role in the world. The panellists explored the domestic debate, how this relates to other British defence and foreign policies, and the international context within which this debate is taking place.

  • Rear Admiral John Gower CB OBE, former Assistant Chief of Defence Staff for Nuclear & Chemical, Biological, responsible for nuclear policy within the Ministry of Defence
  • Paul Ingram, BASIC executive director
  • Dr. Denise Garcia (Chair), Sadeleer Research Faculty and Associate Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at Northeastern University
