The European Leadership Network regularly hosts and participates in timely, policy-relevant events. These range from private seminars with policymakers to larger conferences to inform and shape policy.
ELN Policy Fellow Alice Billon-Galland participated in the Carnegie Europe Summer Academy on European defence industry in Brussels on June 20-21 2019.
In cooperation with the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the European Leadership Network organised a workshop on “Managing the Collapse of the INF Treaty” with experts from all around Europe, United States and Kazakhstan.
Supported by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the forthcoming Finnish presidency, the seminar sought to specify the trade-offs for “European sovereignty” in security and defence.
ELN Policy Fellow Dr Katarzyna Kubiak attended NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Spring Session in Bratislava on May 1st, 2019. Katarzyna briefed parliamentary delegates representing all NATO member and some partner states on The Demise of the INF – Implications for European Security.
She took part in a closed expert lunch on “European Security and Defence” at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
Dr Katarzyna Kubiak and Julia Berghofer presented at the European INF Initiative Project Meeting which took place on 3rd May 2019 at the Odessa Center for Non-Proliferation and Disarmament. Participants discussed where European states can and cannot join forces in responding to the INF crisis and likely demise.
