Kacper Rękawek is an analyst in the European Security and Defence Economics project of the Polish Institute of International Affairs. He specialises in international terrorism and terrorist groups. In 2013 and 2014 he was also Paul Wilkinson Memorial Fellow at the Handa Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence at the University of St. Andrews where he was researching counter-terrorism in Central Europe.

Kacpek holds a PhD in Social Science from Queen’s University Belfast, and is the author of the first comparative analysis of the Irish Republican Army’s factions (Irish Republican Terrorism and Politics: Comparative study of the Official and Provisional IRA) which was published by Routledge in Political Violence series in 2011.
