Nikita Gryazin

Policy Fellow

As a Policy Fellow at the European Leadership Network (ELN), Nikita contributes to the research and policy-relevant insight on Euro-Atlantic security issues and coordinates the Younger Generation Leaders Network (YGLN), a platform for dialogue and cooperation among emerging leaders from across Europe and North America.

Previously, Nikita worked at a London-based commercial intelligence and security company, where he supported the security assessment, monitoring, and evacuation of personnel from Ukraine during the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Nikita also assisted in case management, report writing, and business development for various international clients and projects.

Nikita holds a Master of Philosophy degree in International Relations from the University of Oxford, where he focused on the UK’s global positioning post-Brexit, and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in International Relations from HSE University in Moscow. He is a native Russian speaker and fluent in English, with basic knowledge of Ukrainian, Italian, and German.

Four ways to strengthen the enforcement of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights

In September 2022 Russia was expelled from the European Convention on Human Rights due to its invasion of Ukraine. Since then, the remaining member states of the Council of Europe have placed a greater importance on stabilising and safeguarding the European Court of Human Rights system, which currently struggles to implement its judgments and ensure compliance. Nikita Gryazin and Julia Glukhikh explore how to best improve the efficacy of the court in the face of these issues.
