Andrey Baklitskiy

Senior Researcher, Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme, UNIDIR

Andrey Baklitskiy is currently a Senior Researcher, Weapons of Mass Destruction Programme, at UNIDIR. Previously, he was a Consultant at the PIR Center, a Moscow based think-tank. He was also a Research Fellow at the Center for Global Trends and International Organizations of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Mr. Baklitskiy is a member of a number of track 2 working groups on US-Russia strategic relations and teaches courses at MGIMO University of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Mr. Baklitskiy graduated from the Faculty of the International Relations of the Urals Federal University with a specialist degree in regional studies. He has previously served as PIR Center Information Program Director and PIR Center «Russia and Nuclear Nonproliferation» Program Director. He was the Editor-in-Chief of monthly e-bulletin “Yaderny Kontrol” (“Nuclear Control”).  He took part in the sessions of the Nonproliferation Treaty Preparatory Committee in 2013-2014 and the Review Conference in 2015.

Editor of PIR Center White Paper “Ten Steps toward a Weapons of Mass Destruction-Free Zone in the Middle East” and the report “Iran in the Regional and Global Perspective”. Co-author of the Valdai Club Paper “The Iranian Deal: Opportunities and Obstacles for Russian-US Cooperation”. Andrey Baklitskiy is a regular contributor to Russian and international media outlets.
