Azadeh Zamirirad is a Senior Associate at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP). She works in the Middle East and Africa Research Division where she covers Iran´s foreign and domestic policy, including Iran´s nuclear program. As SWP´s Iran analyst, Azadeh provides policy advice to the German government, the Bundestag and other decision makers in Berlin and Brussels.
Prior to her work at SWP, Azadeh worked as editor of the international affairs journal WeltTrends and was a lecturer of International Relations and Comparative Studies at the University of Potsdam for seven years. She received a master´s degree in political science as well as American studies before finishing her dissertation on preference formation in Iranian nuclear diplomacy. Azadeh is a member of the German Political Science Association and the German Middle East Studies Association for Contemporary Research and Documentation.
