Jakub served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in 2014-2016. Previously, he was the chief adviser to Jan Hamáček, Deputy Speaker of the Czech Parliament and Shadow Defence Minister.
At the same time, Kulhánek served as a research fellow at the Association for International Affairs (AMO), a Prague-based think tank. He has published extensively on security issues and Russia. His work experience includes several positions at think tanks, the cabinet of the EU Enlargement Commissioner and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
Jakub Kulhánek holds an MA from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, Washington DC, and a BA from Charles University, Prague.
