Vahit Erdem is a Turkish politician and a former member of parliament. He served as Advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Turgut Özal (1980-81 and 1986-1993) and later held several ministerial posts including as First Undersecretary of SSM – Under Secretariat for Defense Industries between 1986-1993.He also served as the Chief Advisor to President Süleyman DEMİREL and Deputy Secretary General of the President’s Office in the 90s.
Between 2002-2011 he was Vice-President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly as well as the Head of the Turkish Delegation to NATO Parliamentary Assembly. He chaired the Sub-Committee on Future Security and Defence Capabilities and the Mediterranean and Middle East Special Group.
