General (Ret) Vincenzo Camporini was the Chief of the Joint Defence Staff in Italy from Feb 12th 2008 until Jan 17th 2011. Prior to that, he served as Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force from 2006 to 2008. He was President of the Centre for High Defence Studies, Rome from 2004 to 2006.
Since his retirement from active duty in January 2011 he has been affiliated to the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), the most prominent Italian think-tank for foreign policy and strategy, where he held the position of Vice President till May 2019.
He is one of the four co-authors of the EU Helsinki Headline Goal (together with Richard Hatfield from the UK, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut from France and Wolfgang Schneiderhan from Germany).
As a member of the EASLG he is presently serving as Co-Chair Person of the Crisis Management Dialogue (CMD) Working Group.
