Stela Petrova

Former Research Fellow for the European Leadership Network

Stela Petrova is a former Research Fellow for the European Leadership Network (ELN).

Prior to this she was working for the Nuclear Analysis Program at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI) in London. She has also worked as a Research Assistant at the New School University in New York where her team launched ‘The Lower Manhattan Project’, a U.S. Department of Energy funded project aiming to create a collaborative ‘knowledge ecosystem’ to bring forward an improved foresight and early warning capabilities concerning threats and emerging risks from climate change and energy security.

Stela’s interests in foreign policy and international development, mainly in the areas of conflict and security, including nuclear and energy security, environmental policy and sustainable development led to her work with governmental and non-governmental organisations such as the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre from the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology in Nepal, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in New York and the Kosovar Institute for Policy Research and Development (KIPRED) in Kosovo.

As a Bulgarian citizen educated in the United States, she is fluent in both English and Bulgarian and has conversational knowledge of Russian, Serbo-Croatian and Macedonian.
