Mr Çeviköz is a member of the Turkish Assembly and is elected to the position of the Deputy Chairperson at the Republican People’s Party. Prior to his election, Mr Çeviköz was a diplomat from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is also a member of several think tanks in Turkey.
From July 2010 to July 2014, Mr Çeviköz was the Turkish Ambassador in the United Kingdom. During his tenure in London, he was also elected as the President of the 28th General Assembly of the IMO between 2013-2015.
Mr Çeviköz joined the Turkish Foreign Ministry in 1978. Since his retirement from government service in September 2014, he has written extensively on Foreign Policy and International Relations at Turkish newspapers Radikal, Hurriyet and Hurriyet Daily News.
Between 2007 and 2010, Mr Çeviköz was the Deputy Undersecretary at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During this period he drafted the Protocols on the normalization of bilateral relations between Turkey and Armenia which were signed in Zürich on October 10, 2009.
Mr Çeviköz served as the Turkish Ambassador in Baku, Azerbaijan, between 2001-2004, and in Baghdad, Iraq, between 2004-2007.
Prior to that, he worked at the Economics and Political Directorates of NATO International Secretariat between 1989-1997. In November 1994, he launched the NATO Information Office in Moscow. He also took part in the drafting of the NATO-Russia Founding Act in 1996-1997, which was signed in Paris on May 27, 1997.
Mr Çeviköz has BA degrees in English Literature and Political Science from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul and an MA degree in International Relations from Free University of Brussels.
