Jakub Kulhánek

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs

Jakub served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic from April-December 2021, simultaneously holding the position of Deputy Minister of the Interior (2018-2021). Prior to this, serving as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2014-2016. Previously, he was the chief adviser to Jan Hamáček, Deputy Speaker of the Czech Parliament and Shadow Defence Minister.

Kulhánek remains a research fellow at the Association for International Affairs (AMO), a Prague-based think tank, publishing extensively on security issues and Russia. His work experience includes several positions at think tanks, the cabinet of the EU Enlargement Commissioner and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.

Jakub Kulhánek holds an MA from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, Washington DC, and a BA from Charles University, Prague.
