Following on from previous discussions about the position of Turkey and those of other non-aligned countries on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the Contact Group convened in March to discuss perspectives from China and India, with guest speakers from each respective country. This conversation follows on from President Xi’s meeting with President Putin.

In June, the Contact Group convened for a two-day in-person meeting in Istanbul to discuss the future of the Group and exchange views on the state of, and prospects for, Russia-West relations.
On 27 October 2022. the European Leadership Network (ELN) convened the Contact Group on Russia-West relations via Zoom to discuss Turkey’s positioning on the war in Ukraine and resulting foreign policy relations.
It is easier and more appealing at many levels to stereotype than to assess the many factors at play, but simplification of statements leads to simplification of policy. Members of the Contact Group on Russia-West issue a group statement calling for dialogue, not stereotyping.
