On 20th and 21st October 2011, Lord Browne of Ladyton, a member of the ELN Executive Board, and Shata Shetty, Deputy Director of the ELN, visited Rome to meet with Italian leaders. Lord Browne was invited to deliver the Ippolito Lecture for the Fondazione La Malfa. The lecture, entitled “A World Free of Nuclear Weapons: Why Europe Matters”, took place at the La Sala del Mappamondo in the Italian Parliament and was attended by an expert audience. Lord Browne and Ms Shetty also met with a group of senior Italian experts and senior political figures, including ELN participants Giorgio La Malfa, former Minister of European Affairs for Italy and serving parliamentarian Federica Mogherini, at a meeting hosted by Gianfranco Fini, the Chairman of the Camera dei Deputati.
