How will the transatlantic relations change after the pandemic? Key representatives and security experts in Slovakia, including ELN Policy Fellow Katarina Kertysova, shared their views with Euractiv Slovakia.
“To a large degree, the future of transatlantic relations depends on the outcome of November elections in the United States. The re-election of Donald Trump will likely mean a continuation – if not deepening – of the current transatlantic crisis. The election of a democratic candidate could provide an opportunity for change. I see great potential for expanding cooperation in the fields of conventional and nuclear arms control. I consider the fight against climate change, where the EU has proven to be a leader, as the key area for the deepening of transatlantic cooperation.”
