Anna Katariina Wisakanto

Visiting Scholar at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence

Anna Katariina Wisakanto is a researcher on risks from global systems and artificial intelligence (AI) safety. She has been a Visiting Scholar at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence since 2022. Her research primarily focuses on issues at the intersection of the philosophy of AI, cognitive science and complex adaptive systems, with a particular emphasis on how global AI systems impact human cognitive and moral autonomy.

She has a background in philosophy, engineering physics and complex adaptive systems, and splits her time between theoretical and empirical work. When she is not engaged with academic projects, she advises industry leaders on new technologies.

Anna Katariina Wisakanto is a member of the New European Voices on Existential Risk initiative (NEVER), the European Leadership Network (ELN), the AI safety community at the Future of Life Institute (FLI) and the European Network for AI Safety (ENAIS).
