Joyce Anelay

Chair of the House of Lords International Relations and Defence Committee, Former Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office

The Rt. Hon. Baroness Joyce Anelay was appointed Conservative peer to the House of Lords in 1996. Lady Anelay held the positions of Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from 2014-2017; Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict (PSVI) from 2015-2017; Minister of State for the Department for Exiting the European Union, 2017; and Minister of State for the Department of International Development, 2016

Prior to this, Joyce worked as Chief Whip and Deputy Chairman of Committees in the House of Lords from 2010-2014. Between 1997 and 2007, Lady Anelay was opposition Spokesperson, holding responsibility for Home Affairs, Culture, Media, Sport and Tourism, and Social Security and Agriculture. Joyce Anelay is currently Chair of the House of Lords Select Committee on International Relations and Defence.
