Névine Schepers

Névine Schepers is a Co-Team Head of the Swiss and Euro-Atlantic Security Team at the Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich. Her areas of research include nuclear arms control, non-​proliferation, disarmament and deterrence. She has worked on issues such as East Asian nuclear relations, the Iran nuclear deal, transatlantic arms control and risk reduction as well as extended nuclear deterrence. At the CSS, she leads a project on the future of nuclear arms control.

Before joining the CSS in 2020, Névine worked at the London-​based think tanks the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and VERTIC on non-​proliferation and nuclear policy. Névine holds a BA in Asian Studies from the University of Sydney and a Dual Master’s Degree in European and Asian Affairs from the universities of Sciences Po in Paris and Fudan in Shanghai. She currently also volunteers as a mentoring program manager for Women in International Security Switzerland.

Redesigning nuclear arms control for new realities

A revival of arms control will not be possible by going back to old approaches. Instead, arms control needs to adapt to new circumstances. A new report from the Center for Security Studies in Zurich sets out a transatlantic ap­proach on how to build a political strategy for arms con­trol in a new landscape.
