Dr. Urban Jakša is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute. He teaches a Master’s-level course on EU foreign and security policy, and conducts research on protracted conflicts, de facto states, and the role of local actors in the post-Soviet space. Urban completed his PhD in Politics at the University of York in 2019 and held fellowships at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow in 2015, at Columbia University (Fulbright) in 2016/17, and at the UN Alliance of Civilizations in 2019/20. Before his academic career, he gained hands-on policy experience working for NATO, OSCE, and think tanks, such as the CRRC in Armenia and PISM in Poland.
